FINAL FANTASY VIII Out Now on Steam

Final Fantasy VIII PC Digital Download Out Today

Square Enix announced today the Steam release of the new downloadable PC version of the popular role-playing adventure, Final Fantasy VIII at a price of $11.99.

First released in 1999, Final Fantasy VIII introduced multiple new features building on the staggering success of its predecessor. The fastest-selling Final Fantasy title up until Final Fantasy XIII, the game has gone on to sell over 8.5 million copies across platforms worldwide. With an emotional score by the renowned composer Nobuo Uematsu and including the vocal piece, "Eyes on Me", performed by Faye Wong, this is one of the most beloved entries in the Final Fantasy series. Delivering a powerful and sentimental story, players will follow the path of six elite military cadets, who’ll ultimately put their differences aside to combat a hidden threat that has gripped the country of Galbadia.

Optimized for modern high-definition PCs and fully integrated with the Steam platform, this version includes a range of new features such as a Magic Booster that enables players to power up their spells, Steam cloud support, and 45 integrated achievements to encourage players to explore various facets of the game. Also included is the Chocobo World, previously unavailable to Western players on the original release.

Ultra Street Fighter IV PS3 & Xbox 360 Upgrade coming in june, Standalone in August

Ultra Street Fighter IV Release Information

Next up is the release date information for Ultra Street Fighter IV. Right now, we are hard at work to bring the game to all of our fans as soon as possible, and want to ensure there is enough time that players can practice to compete at Evolution 2014. As such, the digital upgrade will be available in early June for $14.99 (€14.99) on PS3 and Xbox 360. Following shortly after in August, is the digital upgrade for PC at $14.99 (€14.99), as well as the PS3 and Xbox360 full digital bundle and retail versions, which include all previously-released costumes for $39.99 (€39.99). Since our PC fans have to wait longer for the content, we have a special deal where they can get the full digital bundle including all of the previously-released costumes for only $29.99 (€29.99), also in August. Apologies to our PC fans, as we did want to release simultaneously, but this was the only way that we could ensure that Ultra Street Fighter IV would be included in the largest fighting game tournament in the world.

So in the meantime, make it out to one of the location tests or Capcom Cup to try out Ultra Street Fighter IV and be sure to check back here to Unity for the latest updates on the new exciting content coming to Ultra Street Fighter IV.

Gran Turismo 6 microtransaction pricing revealed - £120 for a Jaguar XJ13

Gran Turismo 6 microtransaction pricing revealed

We already knew Polyphony's racer would include microtransactions - a first for the series. Now we're nearing the game's Friday 6th December release more information on how these work has been revealed.

Let's start with the virtual currency, credits. Credits, which you use to buy cars and parts, can be bought in 500K, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million denominations.

The PlayStation Store updated today with the prices for these. They are as follows:

• 500,000 In-Game Credits (£3.99/€4.99)
• 1 Million In-Game Credits (£7.99/€9.99)
• 2,500,000 In-Game Credits (£15.99/€19.99)
• 7 Million In-Game Credits (£39.99/€49.99)

This video showcases GT6's cars and reveals one of the top priced, the Jaguar XJ13, which costs 20 million credits. You can grind for it in traditional Gran Turismo fashion or you can buy it straight away if you drop £119.95 - that's the total you pay for two packs of 7m credits, two packs of 2.5m credits and one pack of 1m credits.

The issue is, will Gran Turismo's progression system be adversely affected by microtransactions? Eurogamer's Martin Robinson has been playing the game and tells me GT6's economy works exactly the same as GT5's, with progression, payouts and car prices very similar.

Sony maintains that GT6's microtransactions offer players an alternative fast-track route through the series' famously grindy progression. Eurogamer's review will be published on Friday.
