Grand Theft Auto 5 DLC Story Mode & Online Heists Coming in 2014

GTA Online Update: Free Deathmatch & Race Creators this Week, Capture Mode and More on the Way

Get ready for lots of new content updates for Grand Theft Auto Online, beginning with the launch of the free Deathmatch and Race Creators tool coming this week. Here's a look at what’s on the way in the weeks ahead...
Deathmatch & Race Creators Beta

This week, we will give you the first chance to build your own content in GTA Online (and play content others have made) with the release of the Deathmatch & Race Creators Beta. With access to some of the same tools as our own game design and development team, you can craft your own custom blood-soaked gunfights, high-octane street races, screaming jet dogfights and more. You’ll also be able to publish your original Deathmatches and Races via the Rockstar Games Social Club for the whole community to discover, download, play, rate and share. Players can create and customize Jobs for the following modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Race, GTA Race and Rally Race

We’re planning on regularly reviewing some of the best community-created content to recognize and distinguish them as Rockstar Verified Jobs, shared out to the entire GTA Online community. The Deathmatch and Race Creators will come to you via a free update, and you’ll need to have a Social Club account that is linked to your Xbox Live Gamertag or PlayStation Network ID to use them. The Creators are in Beta so please help us iron out any flaws and bugs via the GTA Online email.

We expect the Creators Beta to become available as soon as tomorrow, December 10th. Look for an official release announcement here at the Newswire.
Capture

Also in December, we will introduce possibly our favorite competitive team mode, Capture. A proper GTA twist on classic capture the flag, Capture mode brings territory infiltration and a new form of team-versus-team treachery into GTA Online. Up to four squads battle to steal contraband, trucks, buses or whatever from opponents' bases using high-speed vehicles, explosive weaponry and cunning teamwork. Craft, cooperation and team tactics are key. The free Capture update will bring a host of new jobs to GTA Online, accessible via the open world and also directly through your phone. Capture is broken down into four variations - ‘Raid’‘Contend’‘Hold’ and ‘GTA’ – we will give you full details on each of these next week.
Coming in 2014

Expect big things in both Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V next year including:

GTA Online Heists. We know many of you in the GTA Online community are super excited for the debut of co-operative Heists. Heists are currently in development and we are working very hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for much more detail in the New Year.

GTAV Story Mode Updates. For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.

Plus much more still to be announced.

Halo: Spartan Assault hits Xbox One on December 24. 2013

Halo: Spartan Assault Comes to Xbox One on December 24

When it released on Windows 8 devices and Windows Phone 8 earlier this year, Halo: Spartan Assault was greeted by Halo fans with open arms. The twin stick shooter was lauded by critics and players alike for presenting a game that looked and sounded just as great as the Halo games of old while providing a top-down experience that had never been seen in the series. In fact, the only thing that was missing was the ability to play the game on your console.

That all changes on December 24 when a new and improved Halo: Spartan Assault comes to Xbox One via a digital download priced at $14.99. Not only will the game look gorgeous on the Xbox One thanks to its native 1080p resolution and smooth 60 fps frame rate, it will also feature a brand-new cooperative mode, new weapons, and the inclusion of the Operation Hydra add-on.

Best of all, fans that have purchased Halo: Spartan Assault for Windows 8 devices or Windows Phone 8 to date or purchase prior to December 15, 2013, will be eligible to purchase the Xbox One version of the game at the discounted price of $4.99. And don’t worry, Xbox 360 owners: Halo: Spartan Assault will be available on your console in January 2014.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Officially Announced Trailer

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Revealed at VGX

As revealed during tonight’s VGX celebration, Tomb Raider is coming to next-gen sooner than you think. We’re super excited to reveal Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was developed in tandem with our friends over at United Front Games and Nixxes, who worked with core Crystal Dynamics team members and assets to rebuild Tomb Raider from the ground up for next-gen consoles.

The team didn’t simply up-rez the game, they pulled it apart and rebuilt it with obsessive detail and new technology, finally allowing us to reach a vision for the game that we always wanted. Now in native 1080P with TressFX hair rendering and a next-gen Lara model, you’ll get the following in Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition:

• The fully rebuilt game for next-generation consoles
• The Tomb of the Lost Adventurer
• Eight DLC multiplayer maps
• Six DLC multiplayer weapons
• Four DLC multiplayer characters
• Six outfits for Lara
• Dark Horse digital comic book “Tomb Raider: The Beginning”
• Brady Games digital art book “Tomb Raider: The Art of Survival”
• “The Final Hours of Tomb Raider” documentary series

As for other next-gen additions, The Xbox One allows you to use Kinect to change weapons, attachments, and navigate the menu with your voice. You can also rotate and inspect relics with hand gestures, and find new viewpoints by leaning into the world. The PlayStation 4’s Dualshock 4 controller lights up red and orange when using the torch, and quick flashes when Lara is shooting. The PlayStation 4 version also allows you to stream Tomb Raider to the PlayStation Vita.

Chances are if you follow this blog you’ve finished Tomb Raider to completion already. Perhaps several times over! We’d love for your help in spreading the word about Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition – If you have friends who haven’t visited Yamatai yet, let them know that this is the version they’ll want to play!

Preorder Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition with select retailers today to receive art book packaging featuring never before seen concept art.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition launches in North America on January 28 and across Europe on January 31, 2014.
